Anyone not from Gardner, please ignore. I usually don't get involved with politics and whatnot, but Taryn and I's last couple trip home have been disappointing from the standpoint that Gardner is in terrible shape. From the business' leaving the downtown area to the overall mood that seems to be in the town. Kinda depressing. Over the last few years, it seems as though the current mayor, Gerald St. Hilaire, is more concerned with giving himself and others holding office raises, being buddy buddy with higher ups in Massachusetts government, rather than taking and working these funds back into the community or using his contacts to invigorate the city.
Mark Hawke, who is a friend of ours, is running for the mayoral office against Mr. St. Hilaire. We've known Mark for years and has some great ideas for the city. For the past five and half years Mark has worked as the Grants Administrator for the City of Gardner. Mark has successfully averaged over $1 million in grant funding per year for the City. He has managed these funds in projects such as the renovations of the Greenwood Memorial Bathhouse, West Street street scape improvements, construction of 3 affordable houses on Wasa Street, S. Bent environmental assessment work, and numerous other projects around the City. So he's been in the loop.
So on November 6, if you're a Gardner resident, get out and vote for improvement, vote against the status quo, vote for Mark Hawke.
